Karawane Party

Retreat Label Party – Edelweiss, Berlin

The may edition of our monthly residency is a bit of a special one: it’s the first party where ALL of the artists have a release on Retreat. Add to that the fact that they live within a couple of 100 meters to each other and you can tell that this event will ressemble a family reunion of some sort…

We’re happy to see Hunee making his long-awaited return to the Edelweiss cave. Arguably one of Berlin’s finest DJ’s, he has been recently playing to places as far as Seoul or Tokyo, thanks to a well-deserved buzz he achieved via his essential releases on W.T. Records, Internasjonal, Feel Music and Drumpoet Community among others. Hunee’s exciting Disco and House selection combined with his pumping DJing style will definitely have the Edelweiss crowd getting into a frenzy!

Quarion is also back in the basement after a few gigs that made him travel from Stettin to Staten Island. Always looking forward to drop music of all genres (as long as it makes sense), Quarion still feels an affinity with music from the deeper shade of the spectrum. Thus you can expect a heart-felt and dedicated set from one of Retreat’s founders…

Hauke Freer has been quite busy touring as well, sharing DJing and Live duties with his Session Victim compadre Matthias Reiling in spots all over Germany or London. Hauke is known for his energizing blend of groovy bits, whether it’s Hip-Hop, House or Disco, so you can be sure he will get the party started!

A family affair that is open to all music lovers, this event is simply not to be missed!

Retreat Label Party – Edelweiss, Berlin

The march edition of Retreat @ Edelweiss is the release party for our first 2010 record, “Treats vol.2” and we’re very excited to have once again the great Finn Johannsen as special guest! Finn runs the Macro imprint with Stefan Goldmann and played a memorable Deep House set back in august 2009. His knowledge of great music is unfathomable and we just had to invite him again in order to dance to his incomparable selection of all good things with a groove!

Also on the bill are the inseparable Session Victim boys, now a very hot property within the scene, thanks to a mind-blowing release on Delusions of Grandeur! The duo will make you bounce to House, Funk, Disco and everything in between.

Last but not least, Quarion is back on the 1’s and 2’s after february’s live madness for a special warm-up set that should make you forget your drink and start shaking your thang on the dancefloor!

Join us once again for an unforgettable night!

For the final Edelweiss Extravaganza of 2009, we’re looking forward to listen to Iron Curtis dropping his exciting selection of electronics on the 1’s and 2’s. Mr. Curtis has been gaining a lot of praise for his debut releases on Morris Audio and Mirau earlier this year and he’s definitely set to bring more pressure in 2010 (check out his upcoming works and you’ll get the idea!). Iron Curtis is also a very solid DJ with a taste for House that is a bit out of the ordinary…just our type of guy, really 😉

Also on the lineup (and working at the door, depending at what time you arrive) will be Retreat’s founders Quarion and Hauke Freer. The deadly duo will embark on a perilous mission, which is to make you move your feet and shake your thang with musical gems in genres as various as Funk, Disco, Broken Beat, House, or Detroit Techno!

Be advised, it’s going to be a wild one!

RTR Reels 01 – Hauke Freer “fried and then basted” mix

RTR_reels-01Starting off our Reels series is Hauke Freer, better known as one half of Session Victim and co-owner of the vinyl-only label you love to love. Hauke recorded a 3-decks Funk assault with an approach that is similar to his sample-based production: quick changes, elements of surprise and an indestructible groove. Moving easily between US classics (Moodymann and John Tejada) and current european flavors (music from Firecracker or Millions of Moments), Hauke’s “fried and then basted” mix will make you bounce for 30 mins straight!
